LABOR CATEGORY: Senior Database Administrator

GSA RATE: $102.53

Functional Responsibility & Experience: The Senior Database Administrator designs, develops, prototypes, tests, and implements centralized database systems, distributed database systems, and cooperative architectures using a specified database management system and other software tools. Supports data modeling techniques, logical and physical data structures, and client/server, including backends. Responsible for all activities related to the administration of computerized databases. Assigns personnel to various projects and directs their activities. Consults and advises users of databases. Projects long-range database requirements. Directs and controls activities related to database design, implementation and maintenance. Activities include maintaining database dictionaries and systems integration through database design; establishing policies and procedures pertaining to database management, security, maintenance and utilization. Projects long-range requirements and advises management on database concepts and functional capabilities. Has a working knowledge of most phases of database management including access methods, access timing, device allocation, validation checks and statistical methods. Must have five (5) or more years experience in Administration, Financial and/or Technical databases in various hardware/software environments and related industry standard applications. He/she must have experience in preparing functional and detail design papers relative to the database design, be able to clearly, and effectively present these to client representatives. He/she must be knowledgeable of data encyclopedia or repository development and maintenance. He/she must be able to develop, tune and maintain active databases.
