GAI has and currently does provide two distinct categories of systems support to its clients: Systems Programming and Systems Administration.
Systems Programming
GAI's genesis was systems programming for the Honeywell mainframe. As early as the mid 1970's, GAI maintained a staff of thirty-five (35) technicians at the Honeywell Large Information Systems Division in Phoenix, Arizona. GAI was responsible for the maintenance of the kernel operating system (GCOS), the communications software and for the development of the next generation Honeywell operating system.
Beginning in 1981, GAI provided IBM MVS system programming support to Kelly Air Force Base's data processing facility and then in 1984, we began providing IBM system support for MVS and VM to the Air Logistics Center's Engineering Division. The mainframe function was migrated to small and mid-range systems in 1997.
GAI has continuously been involved in supplying system software expertise to a broad range of clients. Operating systems and related systems programming have included the following:
Systems Administration
Beginning in 1987, GAI provided UNIX systems administration to Kelly Air Force Base's data processing facility for the Gould midrange platform, which handled bulk data transfers for the Air Logistics Center. Subsequent to that, GAI began providing systems administration for several other Kelly AFB organizations. IBM RS/6000 AIX System Administration for the Engineering Division, Systems Administration support for multiple Sun platforms (SPARC1000, 2, 5, IPX) using Solaris 1x and 2x for the Software Development Agency and one of the Product Directorates, and HP-UX System Administration for HP3000 and Windows NT Systems Administration for several organizations.
GAI's system administration support has included systems such as:
